“Wickedness has become an economic policy” — Sowore attacks opposition to ₦500,000 minimum wage

2027 African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has described opposition to his proposed ₦500,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers as “wickedness” that has become an economic policy.

Sowore made the statement in a post on X while criticising Nigerians who oppose the proposed wage increase.

The AAC presidential candidate questioned why some people earning millions of naira monthly would oppose a ₦500,000 minimum wage for workers.

He also criticised some low-income Nigerians who argue that paying workers ₦500,000 would worsen inflation.

“₦30 million for them is acceptable, but ₦500,000 for a Nigerian worker is inflationary?

“Wickedness has become an economic policy!” Sowore wrote.

Sowore has consistently advocated for a significant increase in workers’ wages, arguing that the current economic situation requires better pay to enable Nigerians meet their basic needs.
